Description

This lot comprises two distinct pieces of cricket memorabilia, headlined by a historically significant miniature Nicolls Crusader cricket bat. The miniature bat is marked Extra Special West Indians 1950, commemorating the legendary West Indies tour of England which saw the visitors claim their first-ever Test series victory on English soil. The blade features a wealth of handwritten signatures from the 1950 touring squad, including the celebrated Three Ws—Sir Frank Worrell, Sir Clyde Walcott, and Sir Everton Weekes—alongside captain John Goddard and spin bowler Sonny Ramadhin. This item is presented in a vintage wooden display case with a green felt lining. The second item is a full-size Slazenger V800 cricket bat featuring approximately eight unidentified signatures in black ink across the blade. The signatures on both items are unverified and lack formal certification.

Condition report:

The 1950 miniature bat is in aged condition, displaying significant foxing, heavy toning, and general discolouration across the wood surface, though the signatures remain legible. The vintage wooden case shows minor external wear and dust. The full-size Slazenger V800 bat shows light wear consistent with use, with the timber remaining relatively bright and the black ink signatures appearing clear and well-defined.
