A Moorcroft Pottery Columbine Pattern Bowl, Mid-20th Century Category: Ceramics
Description
A vintage Moorcroft art pottery bowl featuring the tube-lined Columbine pattern. The interior depicts a central columbine flower in shades of purple, yellow, and burgundy, set against a wash of green and turquoise. The exterior is finished in a deep cobalt blue to teal gradient glaze. The underside of the base retains a circular paper royal warrant label with a facsimile signature reading: By Appointment. W. Moorcroft – Potters to the Late Queen Mary. This specific label indicates a production date following the death of Queen Mary in 1953, typical of the Walter Moorcroft era. Diameter: approximately 4.5 inches (11.4 cm).
Condition report:
Fine age-related crazing is visible throughout the interior glaze. The paper royal warrant label shows some wear and lifting at the edges. No chips, cracks, or restorations detected.
