Renault Commemorative Logo Badge Presentation Set 1900-1992 and Large Collection of Carved Shell and Stone Cameos
Description
This lot comprises two distinct groups of collectibles. The first is a Renault corporate heritage presentation set containing eight metallic badges representing the evolution of the French car manufacturer’s logo. The set includes the 1900, 1906, 1919, 1923, 1925, 1959, 1972, and 1992 designs, showcasing the transition from early circular motifs and the First World War tank emblem to the iconic diamond or losange shape. These are displayed on a red velvet-lined insert within a dark-coloured hinged presentation case. The second group consists of a substantial assortment of cameos of varying sizes and materials, primarily carved shell and hardstone. The subjects are largely classical, featuring elegant female profiles, a dancing cherub, and a detailed figurative pastoral scene. Several pieces are mounted in gold-tone or silver-tone metal frames as brooches or pendants, while many remain loose as individual carvings.
Condition report:
The Renault badge set is in good condition with the badges appearing well-preserved; the presentation box shows minor shelf wear and an adhesive inventory label numbered 6182 to the lid. The cameo collection is in mixed condition; several examples have been removed from their original jewellery mounts, and some metal frames exhibit tarnishing or loss of plating. The carvings themselves show age-appropriate wear but remain largely intact without significant chips or cracks to the shell.
