UK 19th-20th Century, A Collection of Coins and Commemoratives, Base Metal
Description
A collection of British and Commonwealth coinage and commemorative pieces. Includes multiple Britains First Decimal Coins sets in original blue folders. Featured items include a 1951 Festival of Britain Crown in a burgundy presentation case and various commemorative crowns including 1965 Churchill and 1977 Silver Jubilee issues. The lot contains a variety of pre-decimal bronze pennies and half-pennies, cupro-nickel denominations, and decimal issues. Notable inclusions are a Jersey 1/12 Shilling and a perforated colonial token. A vintage Double Lion Safety Matches matchbox is included in the lot.
Metal: Cupro-nickel, bronze, and copper alloys.
Condition report:
Condition is mixed across the lot. Loose coinage exhibits significant circulation wear, heavy natural toning, and instances of verdigris. The 1951 Crown and coins within the decimal sets retain much of their original mint luster with minimal surface marks. Some copper and bronze pieces show evidence of environmental oxidation and surface marking.
