Description
This lot comprises a diverse assembly of vintage-style novelty pencil sharpeners and decorative miniatures, primarily manufactured from die-cast zinc alloy and moulded plastic. The die-cast pieces feature a distinctive antique bronze or copper-toned finish, a hallmark of stationery collectables from the late 20th century. The collection includes a wide array of forms such as a wood-burning stove, bellows-style cameras, a lantern, a spinning wheel, a sewing machine, two cash registers, a jukebox, a grandfather clock, and several aircraft including a stealth fighter and a four-engine propeller plane. Several items are accompanied by their original blue and white cardboard packaging, labelled as Die-Cast Miniature Pencil Sharpener and marked with model number 9303L. The lot also includes various plastic and resin figures, notably a red Royal Mail post box featuring the GR cypher and HALO branding, a blue motor car, a ceramic-style turtle, a rabbit, two ducks, a grey elephant, and a small doll’s head. These items were typically produced in Hong Kong or Taiwan for the global souvenir and giftware market. Measurements: Individual items vary in size, generally ranging between 40mm and 100mm in length or height.
Condition report:
The collection is presented in good vintage condition. The die-cast metal components show a natural aged patina with minor surface wear and some accumulated dust from long-term display. The plastic and resin figures remain structurally sound with some light scuffing. Two original cardboard boxes are included, exhibiting minor edge wear and age-related discolouration. All items appear to be complete with their internal sharpening mechanisms where applicable.
