Description

A vintage step-through frame bicycle manufactured by the Raleigh Bicycle Company of Nottingham, England. This model, branded as the Jeep, features a steel frame finished in metallic red with contrasting blue-painted mudguards. The bicycle is equipped with a rear internal gear hub, characteristic of the Sturmey-Archer three-speed systems favoured by Raleigh during the mid-to-late 20th century. Notable features include front and rear caliper brakes with white cable housing, an off-white vinyl-covered saddle, and matching handlebar grips. The handlebars are fitted with a small metal mechanical bell. The frame displays original decals, including the Raleigh name on the seat tube and the Jeep model name in cursive script on the down tube. This cycle represents a classic example of British leisure transport from the 1970s era.

Condition report:

The item is in original, unrestored condition and appears largely complete. The painted surfaces show signs of age including surface dust, minor scuffs, and small areas of paint loss. There is visible oxidation and pitting to the metal brightwork and chrome-plated components. The white vinyl saddle and grips show discolouration and light staining from use. The mechanical systems, including the gears and brakes, are intact but have not been tested for functionality; a full mechanical service is recommended before use. The tyres are aged and may require replacement.
