Description
A pair of English art pottery candlesticks by Moorcroft, featuring the celebrated Anemone pattern. Each piece is decorated using the traditional tubelined technique, showcasing vibrant floral blooms in shades of red and pink with yellow-green foliage accents, set against a deep cobalt blue ground. This squat, flared form is a classic example of the manufacturer’s mid-20th-century output, reflecting the enduring influence of the Art Nouveau style. The undersides are finished in a clear glaze over a cream-coloured ceramic body. One base retains an original gold foil label reading MOORCROFT ENGLAND, and faint impressed maker marks are visible to the bases. Height: 9 cm (3.5 inches).
Condition report:
Both pieces appear to be in good overall condition. There is fine surface crazing present on the underside of one base, which is typical for the glaze and age. No chips, cracks, or restorations are evident.
