Casige German Toy Sewing Machine, Art Deco Model 1015, Circa 1940s
Description
This vintage child’s toy sewing machine was manufactured by Casige (Carl Sieper) in Gevelsberg, Germany, during the 1940s. A fine example of mid-century toy engineering, this Model 1015 is constructed from black-painted metal and features striking Art Deco-style decals in a vibrant palette of gold, red, and orange. The machine is operated via a manual hand-crank mechanism, comprising a spoked metal wheel with a turned wooden handle. The base prominently displays the CASIGE brand name alongside the company’s signature eagle logo and the specific model number 1015. This lot includes a vintage wooden spool of thread currently mounted on the spindle. The machine represents the high-quality craftsmanship typical of German toy production from this era. Measurements: Approximately 22 cm x 12 cm x 18 cm.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition, exhibiting age-appropriate wear consistent with use. There is visible paint chipping to the black finish, particularly along the edges of the base. The decorative decals show some scuffing and minor loss but remain largely legible and colourful. Surface oxidation is present on the unpainted metal components, including the needle bar and tension discs. The hand-crank mechanism remains functional, moving the needle assembly when turned. A small adhesive lot tag is present on the base. No original packaging is included.
