Kieninger and Obergfell, Enamelled Dome Clock, Mid-20th Century
Description
A mid-century German decorative mantel clock by Kieninger and Obergfell (Kundo). The clock features a mechanical, time-only brass movement housed within a brass frame. The design incorporates light green enamelled accents on the base and supporting columns, embellished with hand-painted floral motifs. It is protected by a removable clear glass dome and rests upon a tiered circular white-finished base. The circular light green enamelled dial is decorated with a hand-painted floral centre, featuring applied gilt Arabic numerals and simple black metal hands. No chime or strike mechanism is present. The piece appears to retain its original components including the glass cloche. Total Height: Approximately 11 inches. Base Diameter: Approximately 8 inches.
Condition report:
The movement is mechanical but has not been tested for functionality or timekeeping accuracy. The case shows age-related wear, including minor chipping to the green enamel around the base rim and typical oxidation to the brass components. The dial and hands appear to be in good condition. The glass dome is intact without visible cracks.
