Lot 134:
Mid-20th Century Georgian Style Mahogany Hexagonal Occasional Table
Description
A mid-20th-century occasional table crafted in the Georgian revival taste. The piece features a hexagonal top, likely mahogany veneer over a secondary wood, decorated with a delicate lightwood stringing inlay along the perimeter. The top is supported by a central turned pedestal of baluster form, terminating in a tripod base with three out-swept cabriole legs. This style of furniture was widely produced by high-quality manufacturers such as Drexel and Ethan Allen during the mid-century period to suit traditional interiors. The wood displays a rich grain and a well-maintained polished finish with a soft lustre. While no maker’s marks are present, a previous auction lot sticker is attached to the edge. Dimensions: 65cm H x 60cm W x 60cm D.
Condition report:
The table is in good overall condition with a sound structure. The finish is well-preserved, showing only minor surface scratches and light wear commensurate with age and domestic use. No evidence of woodworm, major repairs, or structural instability is present.
