Description
A French Neoclassical revival two-tier coffee table, dating from the mid-20th century. The piece comprises an oval upper tier and a lower shaped shelf, both crafted from polished green onyx featuring prominent reddish-brown veining. The upper surface is bordered by a decorative pierced gilt-metal gallery. The structure is supported by four cast gilt-metal figural uprights modelled as putti, which connect the two tiers. The table is raised on four small metal bun feet. This item exemplifies the ornate decorative furniture produced in France during the mid-century period, drawing heavy influence from 18th-century Louis XVI designs.
