Lot 112:
Hacker, Gondolier GP42, Portable Valve Record Player, Circa 1969
Description
Manufactured by Hacker Radio Ltd. of Maidenhead, this Gondolier GP42 is a classic portable valve-amplified record reproducer from the late 1960s. It features a high-quality Garrard multi-speed turntable housed within a robust wooden cabinet finished in black textured Rexine-style vinyl. The interior is lined with light grey vinyl, and the front features a distinctive white and grey weave speaker grille with the original Hacker badge. Internally, the unit typically utilises a pair of ECL86 valves for high-fidelity audio output. As a record player, it does not feature radio bands.
Condition report:
The unit is in untested condition and retains its original power cord with a UK 3-pin plug. The cabinet is in good overall vintage condition, showing minor surface wear and dust consistent with its age. The metal latches and hinges exhibit slight tarnishing but remain functional. The turntable platter holds a vinyl record, and the internal manufacturer\'s label is well-preserved. Control knobs for volume, bass, and treble are present on the side panel.
