Vintage Adjustable Wire-Grid Dressmaker's Form on Turned Wooden Tripod Base
Description
An early to mid-20th century adjustable dressmaker’s form featuring a collapsible metal wire-grid torso. The wire frame is engineered with horizontal and vertical elements designed for size adjustment, secured to a central wooden spine with metal hardware. The torso is mounted upon a turned wooden centre post which terminates in a tripod base consisting of three splayed, tapered wooden legs. A small section of tan fabric is present at the neck area. This item serves as both a functional tool for tailoring and a decorative piece of industrial design. Dimensions: Height approximately 147.3 cm.
Condition report:
The piece exhibits age-appropriate wear throughout. There is minor oxidation to the metal wire components and visible surface scuffs and abrasions to the wooden elements. The adjustable mechanism appears functional, and the tripod base is stable. No manufacturer marks are present.
