Royal Doulton, The Toymaker and Silks and Ribbons
Description
A pair of Royal Doulton glazed porcelain bone china figurines from the company’s character series. The first, titled The Toymaker (HN 2250, copyright 1958), depicts an elderly bearded man painting a red toy boat, wearing a green vest and blue-sleeved shirt. The second, titled Silks and Ribbons (HN 2017, copyright 1948), features an elderly female vendor with a basket of colourful ribbons, wearing a green chequered shawl and black bonnet. Both pieces bear the green Royal Doulton lion and crown backstamp and MADE IN ENGLAND. The Toymaker includes a small green decorator mark near the base rim, while Silks and Ribbons features a blue handwritten mark, possibly the artist initial B, on the base. Height approximately 15 cm.
Condition report:
Both figurines are in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of professional repair. The glaze remains bright and clear. Small adhesive lot stickers are present on the surfaces. Fine crazing, typical for pieces of this age, may be present upon close inspection.
