Description

A matched pair of Edwardian wall mirrors, dating from the early 20th century, circa 1905. The frames are crafted from solid oak, showcasing a prominent quarter-sawn or tiger oak grain pattern beneath a polished medium-brown finish. Each piece features a classic oval form with a simple, elegant moulding and contains a clear glass plate with decorative bevelled edges. The construction reflects the high standards of the period, likely utilising hidden joints. Although no maker’s marks or retailer labels are present, the quality of the timber and the precision of the bevelling indicate professional craftsmanship consistent with the late Arts and Crafts influence. These mirrors would have originally served as sophisticated accents in a domestic interior. Dimensions (Approximate): 80 cm x 50 cm x 3 cm.

Condition report:

The mirrors are in good overall condition with the structural integrity of the oak frames remaining sound. The polished finish is well-preserved, displaying only minor surface wear and light abrasions commensurate with age. The bevelled glass plates are in an excellent state, free from cracks or significant silvering loss, though very minor age-related spotting may be present upon close inspection. No evidence of historic woodworm or previous restorations.
