Description
A Japanese Hokkaido Ainu hand-carved wood statue of a bear, known as kibori-kuma. The figurine depicts a bear in a walking pose with a salmon held in its mouth. The sculpture features deeply incised, textured grooves to represent fur, finished in a dark brown stain. The fish is rendered in a contrasting lighter wood tone with carved scales and fins.
