A Group of Vintage Composition and Wood Marionettes
Description
This group of vintage string puppets, or marionettes, dates from the mid-20th century. The collection features a variety of human and animal characters. The figures are constructed with molded composition or plastic heads featuring painted facial details. They are outfitted in various multi-textured fabric costumes, including cotton, velvet, and felt, with some figures displaying synthetic hair. Each puppet is attached to a wooden control bar via strings. One figure is a segmented creature composed of painted wooden spheres. A small white tag with the handwritten number 6182 is attached to one of the figures.
