Description
A pair of antique feather fans comprising two distinct styles. The first is a large folding plume fan featuring voluminous cream-to-white ostrich feathers. The fan is mounted on iridescent mother-of-pearl sticks and guards. The mother-of-pearl sticks bear an affixed white paper label marked S/R and 6182. The second item is a smaller, rigid-mount or screen fan constructed of white feathers (non-ostrich). This fan features a carved handle, possibly bone or ivory, topped by a textured textile rosette. The feather surface of the screen fan includes hand-painted green and pink floral or foliate decoration.
