A Pair of Italian Marquetry Inlaid Nesting Side Tables
Description
A pair of nesting occasional tables in the Italian Sorrento marquetry style, dating from the mid-20th century. The tops are constructed with walnut veneers, featuring elaborate floral and foliate marquetry inlays in fruitwood and lightwoods. The larger table is of octagonal form with clipped corners, displaying a central floral bouquet within a scrolling foliate border. The smaller rectangular table features a corresponding central floral spray and matching foliate borders. Both tables are supported by slender, shaped cabriole legs. The design allows the smaller table to be stored beneath the larger octagonal table. A small adhesive stock label is present on the apron of the octagonal table.
