Description

This early 20th-century low glazed bookcase or display cabinet is constructed from mahogany with a polished finish. The piece features a rectangular flat top with a low gallery rail or upstand at the rear. It is designed as a single-piece unit set on a simple plinth base. The cabinet contains two large doors, each featuring three vertical glass panels divided by decorative wooden glazing bars that form pointed lancet arches, characteristic of the Gothic Revival style. The interior is fitted with wooden shelving. There are no external handles; the doors appear to be secured by an internal lock, with a small keyhole visible on the right-hand door’s inner vertical stile. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces. A small white auction lot label is present on the top surface.
