A Set of Royal Doulton Argenta Pattern English Translucent China Tableware
Description
A set of Royal Doulton tableware in the Argenta pattern, pattern number T.C.1002. The pieces are manufactured from English Translucent China, a refined ceramic body developed by the Royal Doulton factory in Staffordshire as an alternative to bone china. The decoration features a minimalist mid-20th-century design with a plain cream-coloured ground accented by a single platinum-toned band at the rims. The collection comprises a partial tea and coffee service including several teacups, a stack of matching saucers, a stack of side plates, a milk jug or creamer, a larger jug or sauce boat, and a large oval serving platter. Each piece bears the printed Royal Doulton backstamp on the base, which includes the lion over a crown logo, the text MADE IN ENGLAND, ENGLISH TRANSLUCENT CHINA, the pattern name ARGENTA, and the pattern number T.C.1002.
