A Hand-Woven Tunisian Wool Rug, Dated 1996
Description
A rectangular hand-woven rug of Tunisian origin, featuring an all-over decorative scheme of stylised botanical and floral motifs. The colour palette comprises mocha brown, olive green, and tan tones set against a cream ivory field. The central composition is enclosed by a narrow scrolling foliate border. The reverse of the rug retains an original official certification label from the Tunisian National Office of Handicrafts, marked Tunisie, Garantie d’Origine, Tissé Main, and 1er Choix. Handwritten entries on the label specify the technical details including a texture of 20/20 and a certification date of 12 July 1996. The rug is constructed with a wool pile.
