Description
A matching pair of Continental porcelain figurines in the Rococo revival style, depicting a dandy and his lady in idealized 18th-century attire. The male figure is dressed in a grey top hat with a pink band, a red jacket over a cream-coloured waistcoat, and breeches with a striking pink, brown, and gold diagonal stripe pattern, shown holding a small bouquet of flowers. The female figure wears a coordinating wide-brimmed straw hat and a dress featuring a matching striped overskirt over a ruffled pink gown, depicted holding a small magenta-coloured pouch. Both figures stand upon elaborate, white-glazed, craggy bases with scrolled details. The pieces feature hand-painted enamel decoration and gilded accents. No factory marks or model numbers are visible. Height 28cm.
