Brass Duck Head Novelty Tippler's Walking Stick, Circa 1980s
Description
A vintage novelty tippler’s or flask walking stick featuring a cast brass handle modelled as a duck’s head with detailed textured plumage and a polished finish. The shaft is constructed from three sections of dark-stained wood, joined by threaded brass ferrules which allow the cane to be disassembled for ease of travel or storage. This functional system cane features a hidden compartment within the upper section of the shaft, housing a removable 12.5cm glass vial intended for the carriage of spirits. The item is accompanied by a handwritten provenance tag identifying it as a novelty three-section stick purchased new in Swanage, UK, circa the 1980s. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are present on the brass components. Length approx. 91cm.
