Description
Attribution to E. Claude Still, this work is a pure watercolour on wove paper. The painting depicts a tranquil coastal scene, featuring a solitary rowboat beached on a sandy shore adjacent to dark, jagged rocks, with a lone figure standing nearby. The composition is dominated by a vast, atmospheric sky and calm water with a shimmering path of sunlight reflection, rendered in a soft, representational style that emphasises light and mood. The work is signed E. Claude Still and dated 1905 in the lower right corner.
