Mid-20th Century Queen Anne Style Mahogany Drop-Leaf Dining Table
Description
A mid-20th century reproduction of a classic Queen Anne design, this drop-leaf dining table is crafted from mahogany with a warm medium brown finish. The oval top is composed of a central fixed section and two hinged leaves, utilising rule-jointed construction for a seamless appearance when closed. The piece is elevated on four slender cabriole legs, each terminating in a traditional pad foot. Two of the legs function as gate-legs, swinging out to provide sturdy support for the leaves. The design is characterised by its graceful proportions and lack of superfluous ornamentation, staying true to the early 18th-century aesthetic. While no maker’s marks are present, the construction and finish are typical of high-quality revival furniture from the mid-century period.
