Lot 50:
A Collection of English Stoneware and Ceramics Including Wedgwood Blue Jasperware Trinket Boxes and a Relief-Moulded Pitcher
Description
This varied collection comprises five pieces of English decorative ceramics and stoneware. The group features three pieces of blue jasperware attributed to Wedgwood, consisting of two circular lidded trinket boxes and one larger round lidded box. These pieces display classic white sprigged bas-relief decoration including grapevine borders, oak leaf wreaths, and a central neoclassical figural scene. Accompanying these is a large earthenware pitcher finished in a high-gloss tan glaze, featuring an all-over moulded relief pattern of stylised flowers and foliage with a distinctive twisted handle. The collection is completed by a smaller brown-toned stoneware lidded jar decorated with moulded floral rosettes and geometric bands. While no exterior maker’s marks are visible, the blue stoneware is characteristic of early 20th-century Wedgwood production. Pitcher height approximately 22 cm.
