A Retired Lladró Glazed Porcelain Figurine, 'Nuns' (Model 4611)
Description
A large Spanish porcelain figurine by Lladró, entitled ‘Nuns’ (model number 4611), designed by the sculptor Fulgencio García. The piece depicts two religious sisters in a minimalist, stylised manner, characterised by elongated proportions and a monochromatic glossy white glaze. The figures are shown wearing traditional habits with deep vertical fluting and prominent winged cornettes. The underside of the base bears the blue printed factory mark reading ‘LLADRÓ HAND MADE IN SPAIN © DAISA 1977’, accompanied by various incised alphanumeric production marks. This model was originally issued in 1970 and was subsequently retired from production in 2017. Height approximately 35.5 cm.
