A Mid-Century Ruby Red Blown Glass Oversized Brandy Snifter with Beswick Ceramic Cat and Mouse Figurines
Description
This decorative mid-century ensemble comprises a large, hand-blown ruby red glass vessel in the form of an oversized brandy snifter, featuring a clear glass stem and a wide circular foot. The set is accompanied by two glazed earthenware figurines attributed to the British manufacturer Beswick. The first figurine depicts a yellow cat modelled in a climbing pose, designed to hook over the rim of the vessel, while the second is a diminutive off-white mouse with hand-painted facial details, depicted in a seated posture. This combination of glassware and animal figures was a popular novelty decor item during the 1960s. The glass technique involves a gathered ruby glass bowl fused to a clear stem. No factory marks are present on the glass, which is typical for these decorative wares. Glass height approximately 25.5 cm.
