Lot 37:
A Group of Four Staffordshire Style Ceramic Spaniel Dog Figurines
Description
This collection comprises four earthenware dog figurines rendered in the classic Victorian Staffordshire style, including a pair of large seated spaniels and a pair of smaller companion dogs. Each figure features a cream-coloured glazed body decorated with hand-painted black spots, yellow eyes, and moulded collars with painted gold-toned chains. The larger pair displays a textured moulded fur appearance, typical of the traditional King Charles Spaniel models produced by various Staffordshire potteries such as Arthur Wood or Kent. No manufacturer’s marks are visible, though the pieces are consistent with the mid-to-late 19th-century aesthetic. One figure bears a small white inventory sticker numbered 9312. Large spaniels approximately 29 cm high; small dogs approximately 15 cm high.
