Lot 13:
Victorian Queen Anne Style Cherrywood Tilt-Top Candle Stand
Description
A late 19th-century Victorian candle stand or wine table constructed in the Queen Anne taste. The piece is fashioned from solid cherrywood with a deep reddish-brown colour. It features a rectangular top with rounded corners, mounted to a functional tilt-top mechanism. The top is supported by a ring-turned baluster pedestal which terminates in a tripod base with three cabriole legs. The design emphasises the slender proportions and graceful curves characteristic of the Queen Anne revival period. The pedestal is turned from a single solid piece of timber, and the legs are joined to the base with traditional dovetail joints. A small white inventory label is affixed to the edge of the tabletop. 71 cm x 50 cm x 38 cm.
