Lot 7:
A Georgian Revival Mahogany Dining Suite Comprising an Extension Table and a Set of Shield-Back Chairs
Description
This 20th-century dining suite is executed in the Georgian Revival style, constructed from mahogany-stained hardwood. The oval dining table features a reeded edge and is supported by four reeded, tapered legs terminating in block feet. The table includes a central seam for extension leaves, though no leaves are present with this lot. The accompanying set of chairs includes two carvers with swept arms and four side chairs, all featuring Hepplewhite-style shield backs with pierced splats. The splats are finely decorated with carved foliate motifs and the iconic Prince of Wales feathers. Each chair is upholstered in a blue velvet-effect fabric. The suite reflects the enduring popularity of late 18th-century English cabinetmaking traditions during the Edwardian and mid-20th-century periods. Table: H 76 cm x W 165 cm x D 107 cm. Chairs: H 98 cm x W 54 cm x D 48 cm.
