Lot 125:
A Collection of Wedgwood Calendar Plates and Commemorative Plates, Approximately 30 in Total
Description
A substantial collection of Wedgwood decorative plates, primarily crafted from ceramic or fine china. The lot comprises approximately 30 plates, including a series of Wedgwood Calendar Plates, dating from the late 20th to early 21st centuries. These calendar plates feature diverse themes, including at least two distinct series: one centered around “Millennium” iconography with various modern symbols, and another depicting “Seasons 2000” with birds and wildlife motifs. Additionally, the collection includes two individual commemorative plates; one features a sepia-toned portrait of George Washington, and the other depicts a landscape identified as “Etruria Hall.” Both commemorative plates are framed by an oak leaf and acorn border with a heraldic crest. Many plates are housed in their original light blue branded cardboard boxes, which bear labels explicitly stating “WEDGWOOD” and “CALENDAR PLATE,” with some indicating specific years such as “CALENDAR PLATE 1990.”
