A Landers, Frary & Clark Universal No. 8 Bread Maker and a Prentice 1917 Lantern
Description
A Landers, Frary & Clark Universal No. 8 Bread Maker, a cylindrical, lidded iron or steel vessel, equipped with a hinged lid and wire bail handle. The vessel is embossed with an oval marking identifying it as a “NO. 8 THREE-MINUTE BREAD MAKER” by “LANDERS, FRARY & CLARK, NEW BRITAIN, CONN. U.S.A.”, and notes it was “AWARDED GOLD MEDAL ST. LOUIS EXPOSITION 1904”. This is accompanied by a brass-toned metal lantern, featuring a top handle and a prominent front opening. The lantern bears an oval plaque reading “PRENTICE”, “1917”, and “SOUTHERN MANUFRS LTD BIRMINGHAM”.
