Lot 223:
A Large Collection of Silver-Plated Tableware and Holloware Featuring a Pierced Gallery Tray
Description
A comprehensive assembly of silver-plated holloware and table service items, predominantly of 20th-century manufacture. The collection is centred around a large oval serving tray featuring a pierced gallery rim and an engraved foliate surface. Included is a partial tea and coffee service comprising a teapot, lidded sugar bowl, and cream jug, each displaying fluted bodies and gadrooned borders in the Neo-Classical style. The lot further includes an assortment of salt and pepper casters of varying designs, a salt cellar fitted with a cobalt blue glass liner, a small goblet, and various condiment vessels. The pieces exhibit traditional decorative techniques including chasing and engine-turning. While no specific maker’s marks are clearly visible, the construction is consistent with electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) from the mid-to-late 20th century. Tray length: approximately 43 cm.
